The Webel SysMLv2 Ports audio mixer case study with simulation in Cameo

Learn how to model an actual system using SysMLv2 Ports with the Webel Mixer Ports case study of an analog audio mixer. Includes detailed step-by-step slides, with clear illustrations of the mixer channels and the main mixer, and including simulation in the Cameo SysMLv2 Simulation Plugin with accompanying screencast videos.

Builds from port-based models and simulations of the simplest components in STAGE #1, through modelling of channels in STAGE #2, then the entire mixer in STAGE #3.

Only requires minimal knowledge of audio signals. All necessary concepts are clearly explained in the slides for those less familiar with audio engineering terminology.

Learn how to simulate real projects now with the Cameo Simulation Plugin v2026x Release 1, with a modelling recipe that works. Your purchase gives you access to updated versions of the Mixer Ports project as the Simulation Plugin matures.

It's not just about SysMLv2 Ports! Learn how to capture component variations using part definitions through comparison of different mixer channel kinds. Learn exactly how to capture the common aspects whilst also managing system variations.

Available for standalone purchase, but now bundled FREE for a limited time only with Webel SysMLv2 Combined course access, which includes the MASSIVE Webel SysMLv2 Language slide set with coverage of Flows, Ports & Interfaces required for this Mixer Ports module,  and including comprehensive self-test Quizzes,  access to the Webel Balls & Boxes worked sample problem and exercises for SysMLv2 part fundamentals, and Webel's new Cameo SysMLv2 Simulation video series with state simulations.

Watch a 3 minute MiniSim video of a simple mono i/o node from the Webel SysMLv2 Mixer Ports case study!

The MixerPorts case study starts simple. The slides show you exactly how to use Webel's recipe for modelling signals, starting with a simple demonstration mono line level audio i/o processing "node".
Learn about the super sleek Webel port and interface signal processing friendly naming conventions.
This short video shows you how the Webel MiniSim videos work, and there are lots of them to come!
After learning to model each component of a mixer channel there is an accompanying MiniSim video.
(Then, we build them up into groups, then into a mixer channel, see also the video below this one.)

Watch a 7 minute tour of a simulation of an analog mixer channel from the Webel SysMLv2 Mixer Ports case study!

The case study has three increasingly ambitious stages: STAGE #1 is the basics of modelling audio signals with ports and models and simulations of all the components of a mixer channel strip; STAGE #2 is a mixer channel (including variations on kinds of channels); STAGE #3 is the entire mixer. This video shows the main aim for STAGE #2.

Buy standalone access to Webel's SysMLv2 Mixer Ports

We recommend that you purchase access to the Webel SysMLv2 Mixer Ports case study as part of the Webel SysMLv2 Combined bundle (includes also the MASSIVE SysMLv2 Language course with self-test Quizzes, the Balls & Boxes worked sample problem and exercises, and our SysMLv2 Simulation video series, but if you wish you may purchase access just to the Webel SysMLv2 Mixer Ports module.
Meet the course author

Dr Darren R C Kelly

"Dr Darren" has been teaching and applying SysML for Model-Based Systems Engineering for over 20 years, and is one of the world's most active promoters of SysML for MBSE. He originally trained as a physicist (astrophysics, radioastronomy, particle accelerators) and first applied SysML to modelling of radio-telescopes and neutron beam instruments in the earliest days of SysML. He is a former Expert Advisor for Science, Education, and Engineering to No Magic Inc, original developers of the SysML Plugin for MagicDraw/Cameo. He is the developer of the Webel Parsing Analysis recipe for traceable elicitation of SysML models from engineering documents. He has applied SysML to modelling of as many real projects as anyone on the planet. And he just LOVES port-based engineering and simulation of systems, devices, and instruments with SysML!
